Adapting
the experience gathered from previous projects, it was decided
to approach this build so that maximm savings on waste could be
achieved - aiming for nearly 100% efficiency.
This
view is front on looking at where the main access door will eventually
reside. Don't worry, the box like structure is not a coffin as
some people remarked at the time, but only there to indicate where
the top shelf of hives will eventually reside.

Once
the architectural plans were drawn up, we decided to spend some
time building a skeleton frame model from balsawood in order to
better understand and calculate the exact amount of wood required
for the build.
This
side elevation view shows the full length of the building (3.5
metres) and the higher posts indicate that the roof will be a
pent one - with the steepest side facing you on the right side
of the building.
