Freightliners Farm - Tea House

This Project began on 11th August 2003. The building was designed by Ting Na Chen (RIBA) and the project manager is Simon Hepburn from the farm's carpentry workshop.

HBC did the primary groundwork by laying all the drainage then contributed several volunteers to work on the foundation structure for the first year of the build after which we left to concentrate on other projects.

The site is an urban farm in Islington, London and the structure will be built of green oak post and beams with straw bale infill on three sides. It is also hoped that the structure will possess a sedum extensive green roof.

Possible additions to the project - depending on grant funding - will hopefuly include sustainable technologies such as photovoltaic panels (PV) for generating electricity, solar water panels for hot water, and a rain water recycling system. These will be phased in over time.
