Segal Trust Shelter Penwhilwr Strawbale Meditation Retreat

It was an exciting day that the straw bales arrived. 350 strawbales arrived to be precise and they had to be transported to a nearby garden before being moved up to the site during August.

The weather was very good so it was important to unload them as soon as possible and get them stored into every dry place Rachel had available.

Some of her neighbours kindly provided extra shed and field space to accomodate so many bales in the short term.

The location of the build presents its own unique set of access problems for vehicles. Access to the Penwhilwr site has been a challenge as its located up a track that is also a public footpath, and although Rachel has a private vehicular right of way, large vehicles cannot reach the site.

Lime and Leka floor insulation arrived by the ton so she used a local hire company to bring it up with a dumper truck.

As you can see here, the bale trailer can go no more further, so friends such as Lenka had to carry the bales the rest of the way by good old oomph power!
