Building
a Compost Bin Course
HBC
was pleased to be approached by St Anne's pensioners group in association
with London Community Recycling Network North to run a course teaching
people how to build a compost bin for their gardens.
The
Course took place on 5th November 2004. The site is the surrounding
back space of St Anne's library where they are going
to install a compost bin to deal with the waste from the gardens
currently being landscaped and planted there.
Here
we see trainer Andrew Smith from HBC addressing the eager audience
of pensioners.

The
assembled group were given a half hour talk in the hall by trainer
Liam Devany about why composting is good for everyone and which
materials should and should not be composted.
There
were lots of questions to be answered after the talk and each person
was given a handout explaining all the methods with instruction
on how to build the compost bin.
After
the talk everyone moved outside and we made sure they were all wrapped
up well for the nice autumn weather! Here we see the wood that will
be used for the corner joints being layed out for measuring first.
